Gas-phase Reaction Kinetics of Biofuels Oxygenated Molecules

23 April 2018 - 24 April 2018

The workshop on “Gas-phase reaction kinetics of biofuels oxygenated molecules” aims at providing an overview of the current research and the most recent advancements in the investigation of the oxygenated classes of molecules involved in biofuels conversion chemistry. It is organised in the context of the SMARTCATs WG1 and is also part of the IMPROOF project (https://improof.cerfacs.fr/), which has the ultimate target of designing next-generation steam cracking furnaces, able to drastically improve combustion efficiency, and cut the emissions of CO2 and pollutant species. A joint meeting between the two communities is a synergistic effort  that will provide a key contribution to the discussion on the advancement and critical issues in the field.

The workshop will take place in Milan on 23-24 April, 2018. The venue of the meeting is the Auditorium “Casa dello Studente” at Politecnico di Milano – Campus Leonardo. Prof. Faravelli, head of the CRECK Modeling group will be responsible of the organisation, in collaboration with Dr. Alessandro Stagni and Dr. Matteo Pelucchi, Assistant Professors at the same university.

Workshop AGENDA

Invited Speakers

  • Eliseo Ranzi (Politecnico di Milano, Italy)
    • Detailed kinetics of vanillin as reference component of pyrolysis bio-oil
  • Heinz Pitsch (Institute for Combustion Technology, RWTH Aachen, Germany)
    • Chemistry Matters: Advanced Biofuels for Internal Combustion Engines
  • Roger Cracknell (Shell Global Solutions, UK)
    • Ethanol and other bio-oxygenates: their role in high octane fuels

Oral and poster presentation info

Oral presentation duration is 15 minutes including a 3-4 minutes time for questions. Posters will have to be put on display starting from the morning of April 23rd. During coffee and lunch breaks authors should be present at the posters location. The maximum size of the posters is 84 x 109 cm (W x H).

Participants must submit a one-page abstract (template here) of their contributions by March 27th at . Please indicate, in the email, your preference for poster or oral presentation.

Participants Support

Support to the Action participants will be given according to the usual COST rules and the provision of the Action budget plan.

At most one registrant per oral/poster contribution will be considered for a reimbursement up to a maximum of 660€. Selection will be aimed at maximizing the number of participating countries/entities, on a first come-first served basis and in the limit of available funds. The invitations from e-cost platform for those selected will be issued by March 31st.

A flat rate of 120€ per night will be reimbursed to cover accommodation costs. Travel will be reimbursed up to 300€.

Lunches for the two days and networking dinner are provided from the local organizer to the registered participants.

Registration

All participants to the meeting must fill in, sign and send the registration form to Alessandro Stagni via email () by March 31st, to help the local organizers with their work. The event is free of charge.
